From the Preface

The map collection in the Atatürk Library affiliated to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Library and Directorate has an important place among the libraries in Istanbul in terms of use density and size. The number of maps, which was originally 1567, increased to 6850 with the ones coming from the Municipality. 3850 of them were cataloged, classified and put into service of readers. Most of these maps are of great historical importance. Those who created them are considered to be the most valuable cartographers of their time and today. These maps, most of which are related to Istanbul, also include subjects such as zoning, allotment, direction, and harik. Based on this fact, we have prepared this catalog so that readers, both inland and abroad, can benefit from this collection better.
