Since 1997 the Atatürk Library has had a "Library for the Visually Impaired". In 2007 this service moved to Eyüp and became the "IMM Voice Library".
This library endeavours to fulfill our commitment to providing equal service, as part of the principle of equal citizenship, to all Istanbul residents. It contains 7,000 audio publications and 500 books published in Braille Alphabet. The Voice Library has a 41 person capacity and is 455 square meters in area.
Visually impaired citizens, who wish to become a member, should fill out the membership form at seslikutuphane.ibb.gov.tr. Visually impaired members of our library are given the opportunity to borrow a maximum of 10 audio books as CDs or DVDs per month, and a maximum of 2 books from the Braille Alphabet books for up to 15 days.
